I was renting a nice 1 BR home for $285 pw in regional QLD, until the owner sold. The new owner said I can stay but wanted market rate, and forced me to move out if I didn’t agree to increase to $380 pw (33% increase). I couldn’t afford that so had to move everything myself in my car because removalists are booked months in advance (I’m 70). I’m currently sleeping in my car for a month until I can save enough for rent and bond.
